"Rubies were thought to imbue weapons with various immunities and special powers - especially against dragons. A very few were constructed with rubies that had been consumed by dragons, the most powerful of which ate gems to fuel their immense magics. These rare gems, partially consumed and partially augmented during the process, often had a hollowed look in their core that made them appear like an eye. The few ruby eye weapons killed more than their share of dragons. Rumor has it that the eyes brightened as they drank the blood of dragons."
