Towering over all shields ever wielded by mortal men and forged of a material not native to this world, the Monolith of Darias was an enormous magical structure crafted by the Mages of Darias and used in the defense of the Darian coastline in countless wars. Used as a focal point for magic, the Mages of Darias would position and rotate the Monolith to face an encroaching fleet and then proceed to wholly incinerate it in a terrifying display of power. When the Machanites invaded, the first thing they did was see to it that the Monolith was destroyed. Once they had secured the Monolith, they found the task of destroying it to be uncannily difficult. Instead, they decided to shatter the structure and formed several massive infantry shields out of the powerful material. The result was an immensely powerful ward again magic and swords alike.
