Origin
Lomonosov was born on an island in the far north of Russia. He helped his father with fishing for a while, but then decided to walk to Moscow, in the snow, uphill, and with his eyes closed.

In Moscow he founded the Moscow State University, debunked the phlogiston theory of combustion, explained gravity and the formation of icebergs, froze mercury, wrote a history of Russia, reformed Russian syllabics, restored mosaics, and generally had a swell time until his death, in 1765.
