The story of Riana begins in her small fishing village when a group of bandits came and attacked her father's market. Outraged at the violence she picked up a shield and began bashing the bandits down. Eventually they gave up and left the market. Since that day she has been the defender of the village using her shield skills to ward off any threats. News of the duelist arena immediately attracted her attention. For this was a place to show off her skills and better herself as a warrior. When she fights in the arena, her father cheers her on from the stands.
