An early folk legend, originating among the Gostic tribes, tells of a mountain wizard named Klas and a Kthalan troll named Senter. The story states that the land of northern Gostia was terrorized by the monster Senter who at night would sneak down chimneys and through opened windows to kidnap and kill children. Implored by the terrorized families of the region, Klas sought out the troll and tricked it with magical chains - Senter was trapped and forced to obey the wizard's orders. Klas ordered him to go to each house and make amends, by delivering gifts to children. Klas made the troll fulfill this task every year at the winter solstice. Reformed under Klas's command, Senter recruited elves, men, and faeries into helping him, forming the Order of the Northern Star. Senter has been known as Senter Klas the Gift Giver ever since.
