Titos is one of the guardian of magical craftsmanship. He protects the secrets of making the artifacts that duelists wield and wear in the Arena. He's held this position for fourteen centuries--since before the Great Weapon and he's kept it without any successful challenges. Despite the chaos that followed (or perhaps because of it) magic items continued to flow into the social fabric of Phyrra, and that was his doing. None question his position, but by popular demand, he eventually joined the lists. He may not be great in a fight, but his craftsmanship is still unchallenged.
